So happy that Mamou finally opened in Powerplant! Mamou has always been my favorite steak place in Manila, but John is always thinking about cholesterol levels and deperssing things like that. Plus he needs to fork over about P3,500 for dinner, which is another complaint. And since we’re rarely in Serendra, it’s very, very difficult to convince him to eat there. But we are in Powerplant once a week and you know what that means!!!
The inside tables go fast, and reservations are a must. You can probably get a table even on the same day, if you’re willing to go for first seating (6-6:30 pm). I understand the second seating is more in demand (8:30 pm).
Walk-in guests were seated outside, but if there are heavy rains like on the night we were there, you and your food will get wet.
John and I ordered the 24 oz Angus Prime Rib for sharing. We always ask our waiter to tell the kitchen we want meat with less fat, as Mamou’s steaks can sometimes be too fatty.
Tender, juicy, perfectly cooked steak, garnished with fried fat, needing no gravy (I like a bit of rock salt though). Every bite is happiness!
For our sides, we have corn pudding, creamed spinach, and baked mashed potato. They are quite small so we have two of each. The corn pudding is my favorite, and the spinach is John’s.
