Our very first lunch in Davao City was at a place called Dencia’s, just steps away from our hotel.
Our friend Greg says that Dencia’s is a Davao City institution, and he should know because Davao is practically his second home.
What we ate:
Butter fried chicken — our new favorite. So good!
Camaron rebosado (their version) — our second favorite
And coffee with a shotglass of evaporated milk on the side
Dencia’s is famous for their arroz caldo and tokwa’t baboy, so we went back to the restaurant the next day just to try.
John and I both enjoyed our arroz caldos!
We ate all of our tokwa but left the baboy untouched. John asked the waitress what kind of pork it was exactly and she said “pig’s head.”
All in all, Dencia’s is a great place for simple but delicious lunch or merienda. I highly recommend the butter fried chicken and crispy shrimp!
