After our family’s recent Japanese dinner prepared by a Secret Chef, here’s another private dinner we attended, this time by a not-so-secret chef who co-owns a Thai restaurant in Manila.
This dinner was organized by our friends Patrick and Ross, who recently invited us to their home to meet their newborn twins, co-hosted by Tian, who was celebrating his birthday. Everything looked festive and colorful.
I love crispy catfish with green mangoes.
The duck and seafood curries were delicious.
There’s something about a private dinner that feels so much more special than going to some restaurant. This particular chef charges about P900/person for a minimum of 10 persons, with a wide variety of Thai dishes, drinks and desserts included.
Thank you so much for our lovely dinner, Patrick, Ross, and Tian!

For an intimate dinner with family or friends, I highly recommend Damaso Residencia. John and I had a nice little dinner with friends at the residence of Chef Bambi Sy Gobio in Greenhills, which is located along Ortigas Avenue, but has an out-of-town feel to it. Our group had pumpkin soup, salad, chicken, fish, steak, a turkey carving station, dessert and drinks, all for less than P2,000 per person. I wouldn’t say the food was spectacular but it was good, kind of like fancy home cooking. Chef Bambi was very accommodating and we were in constant correspondence with her via email about menu or ingredient changes. And on the night istelf, she was there to make sure everything was in order and that we all felt welcome in her home.
