For this year’s Restaurant Week, we were able to go to only two restaurants, and Brasserie Cicou was one of them. I’ve always liked Cicou, and I love their food.

Kat, John, and I sat in one of these tables by the windows. We were having an early dinner before catching a show at the Music Museum.
Brasserie Cicou’s Restaurant Week menu:
What we ate:
Really good simple bread.
Spinach and chevre cakes with mesclun. Yum! This was a really generous portion too.
Next course was a perfect pairing of mackerel with olive oil, sundried tomatoes, feta cheese, and olives, with a side of aglio olio. I really enjoyed this course.
Then came the grilled hanging beef tender with a side of potatoes and vegetables. The beef was indeed tender and I loved it, but it was also realllly tinnnnny. It doesn’t look it in the picture, but it was practically foie gras sized. Good thing we had already filled up with bread, salad, and pasta or this would have left us wanting more.
Kat ordered ala carte, and she had the beef onglet (super good and a much better portion size). If you are a meat lover, you must try Cicou’s beef dishes as they are really delicious. They also serve a mean coq au vin, but each order is a whole chicken meant to be shared by 4-5 people.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the goat cheese ice cream, but it’s probably because I’ve never liked goat cheese.
Good thing we also had one of my absolute favorite desserts, Cicou’s Kouign Amann! Made up of of perfectly flaky, perfectly buttery puff pastry and topped with a scoop of salted butter caramel ice cream, trust me when I say this is to die for.

The Restaurant Week menu includes Santa Vittoria still mineral water.

Vittoria coffee.
And red or white wine.
